What you need to know

When first considering a home in the high Sierra, there are a few things to learn that owning a home in low lying areas might not teach you.  Not surprisingly, these are related to snow and ice.  

This photo is an extreme example and not indicative of a normal winter in Truckee/Tahoe.  In fact this was taken on Donner Summit in 2017, the wettest winter on record.  But it illustrates some things that as a buyer you should be thinking about that will affect the practical use and enjoyment of your home.  Three of these items are driveway, roofline and the microclimate of a home.  I won't go into detail here, but knowing how these affect a home will serve you well.  I will help you understand these factors the first time we go out looking at homes.
